JUST GELLING

©2017 Andy deBruyn

I purchased a couple of bouquets of flowers for the house and decided to play around with some gels.
The main gel here is the Lee 351 plum. That's laid on a flag of full China silk. Then there's a full CTS that's in the back on the left just adding a puff of gold.

Shot with camera on a tripod and tripped with the shutter release. I used my old nifty fifty Nikkor from the "old" film days. Works great on a digital camera and it's fun to play with just manual tweaks.

AFTER THE HURRICANE

Monday morning, after the hurricane, I walked around the Georgetown flower garden. Calm, cool, serene.

Discarded broken flowers tossed in a pile.

I saw this guy at the last second before my face actually ran into him. Quite the color artist.

ECLIPSE LIGHT

I knew that today we would experience a partial eclipse. I thought,  "What cool place could I shoot during the eclipse?"  I love the architecture of the Sai Baba Temple of Austin but the white and gold is so bright it can be hard to get detail without a lot of exposure compensation. I figured today I would be working with only 30-35 percent normal sunlight so off I went.

Images were made during today's eclipse from about 12:45 to 1:15pm. Handheld in P mode at ISO 100.

A lot of nasty stuff in the news today. Looking at nature always reminds me that this will pass - nature will still be around.

IL PANINO CON PROSCIUTTO

©Andy deBruyn

Today I had a craving for a ham and cheese panino. So here it is just before it met my delight.

Food specs: Cibata roll, black forest ham, swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato slices, and pickle on the side.
Cold ice tea with lemon.

Image specs: Nikon D750 with Nikkor 50mm, ISO 200, aperture priority at f1.8, 1/10th ss. Camera on trusty tripod. Just window light from the right with foamcore bounce from the left for fill.
