Not so pretty from back here. That's why it's important to either sketch the scene prior or have a
good idea of how you want the final image to appear including the lighting.

Notice: black duvy clipped to shades. Two pieces of black foamcore pony clamped to C-stand, camera on a tripod with cable release. Leafy plant on right up on cribbage to adjust for the right height and angle to picture frame.
This was shot with a flash, the room is dark. There's a little light coming in through the shades but not enough to register at ISO 100.
