Prime Examples
I just ordered a new brush (lens) for my photographs. A prime 24mm Nikon f2.8. Should be here by the end of the week. I love working with primes. They really force you to think and get pro active about framing. If you want a wider shot you step back, if you want a close you just get real close. Zoom with the feet!
In the two shots above (shot with a prime 50mm f1.4) I was just a few feet away.
Because I shot these wide open at f1.4 you can see the lovely bokeh effect in the background. These kinds of wide apertures (f1.2, 1.4, 2) are pretty expensive when you get into zooms - sometimes thousands of dollars but much more affordable with primes.
The two shots of Dacia above are a couple of my favorites from last summer. We were in bright sun and I had an umbrella set up with the flash but on these I just turned off the flash and placed the umbrella between the sun and Dacia and got a beautiful soft light. Using ISO 200 with a shutter speed of 1/400.
Can't wait to try out the 24mm - will post shots as soon as they're available.
Thanks for stopping by - keep shooting-be kind.
